Back in the U.S.

We're back! We had a great time on our trip to Colombia with Chiqui, Juan, and Mark. I'm really glad they decided to join us on the trip. Our connection from San Jose, Costa Rica to Miami was delayed about two hours. We arrived into Miami at about 11:30PM last night. Unfortunately, Juan was detained by immigration for about an hour and a half. Apparently he has the same name and birthday as another Juan Rodriguez that the authorities have some concerns about. We finally arrived home at about 2AM this morning. I'm working on getting some of the pictures posted on the site as soon as I can.

My Contribution to Blogger

My blogger hack made the other hacks page on Blogger.com! Very cool. I'm famous! Sorta... Ok, not really.

Trip to Colombia

Only a few more days and Sheila and I are on our way to Colombia. We're really looking forward to the big trip. On Thursday, we fly into Bogota and will be in the country for 11 days and 10 nights. We will also be joined by Sheila's brother Juan, her sister Carmen, and my good friend Mark. Everyone is really excited. We'll be sure to post pictures when we get back. I still have to put up pictures of the wedding one of these days.

My Thoughts on the Electoral College

If you ask me, I think the electoral college system needs to be elliminated. It is an antiquated system that really dillutes the validity of our votes. I voted for Kerry, but really voted for Bush because of the electoral voting system. The system raises controversy when a large state such as Florida or Ohio has a close race.

It is unfair that a candidate would get every vote in a large state if there is a 51-49 split in a state. It's absolutely rediculous. The controversy needs to end along with the electoral college voting system. Without it, George Bush would have been the uncontested winner of the election by the popular vote. Although I voted for Kerry, I would be much more willing to accept a Bush victory by popular vote than by the electoral college.

Speaking of college and controversy, we also need a playoff system in college football... but that's for another post.

New Cell Phone! Finally!

Well, I finally joined the 21st century and got a new cell phone. I think I've had the same old phone for about 4 years now. That's about 40 in cell phone years. Sheila's dad needed a new phone, so we took advantage of a buy one for $50 get up to 4 free deal. Rest assured Sheila will be spending her evenings seeking out the perfect ringtone.
